BLT | fine art, portraiture & event photographer
Night Photography
In the 90s I started making images of empty city streets at night for a project on my photography degree in Sunderland. I was semi-nocturnal at the time, so it made sense. About 8 years ago and now in Bristol with a normal sleeping pattern, I started up the project again and this now makes up the bulk of my personal work.
Portraiture & Events
Portraiture has always been a key part of my photographic practice. From doing a GCSE over 30 years ago to documenting parties and the occasional wedding. It also became a part of my job off the back of the party imagery, when I was tasked with all of the portraiture and official documenter of office life.
Other stuff…
The remainder of my work falls under the heading of ‘stuff… ‘. From Instagram posts, street photography to architecture.
My focus is on strong images that use light and angles to structure the images. A reliance on angles has made landscape photography a genre I have yet to embrace.
About BLT
I am a Bristol-based photographer working across a number of photographic genres., from city nightscapes to events & documentary.
The name BLT photography is based on my initials and not on a tasty bacon-based sandwich.
As above, my work splits across two main areas, with the remainder being filed under ‘stuff’. Night photography makes up the bulk of my personal work.
Ben Laine-Toner
I have a day job as a business analyst working on websites but have still had the opportunity to use my photographic skills to add value to companies that I have worked for.
Prints are available via the contact form & a print sales section will be coming soon.
